(Man Gash-a-flais a Minna)

Translation in English: [One who cheats is not among us.]

Inference:

Islam teaches honesty, fair play, mutual trust and truthfulness. Cheating, lying and deceiving all negate the teachings of Islam. The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) is not willing to accept a cheater in the fold of Islam. The Quran mention the ill fate of earlier communities that were dishonest in their dealings. Similarly, Islam forbids any kind of adulteration in eatables or even hiding the defects of articles for sale. The Quran instruct us:

So establish weight with justice, and do not fall short in the balance. (Sura Rehman; 55:9)

Irham man fil Arz I Yahamk a Fil-Samaai

Translation in English: [Be compassionate to those on earth and he who is in heaven will be compassionate to you.]

Inference:

Islam not only teaches a set of worship rituals, it also defines one’s social obligations. The believer manifests his faith worshipping Allah, and behaving kindly with his fellow man. THE Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said, ”Allah doesn’t show mercy to the one who doesn’t show mercy to His creation”.

He himself is known as Rehmatul lil `Alameen (mercy to the worlds) and even prohibited the ill treatment of animals.

Man sall a Alayya Maratan Fatahallah o Lahu Baban Minal aafiya

Translation in English: [For whoever asks blessings on me once God will open a door of safety.]

Inference:

Love, respect and obedience to the Holly Prophet (P.B.U.H) are likened to the same for Allah repeatedly in The Quran says,

Allah and his angels send blessings on the Holly Prophet : O ye that believe! Send blessings on him, and salute him with all respect (Sura Ahzab; 33:56)

The believers express their love for him not only in action but also by repeatedly invoking Durood on him.

Qul Aamant o billah Summ as taqim

Translation in English: [ Say : “I believe in God”, then act uprightly.]

Inference:

Declaring by uttering; ‘There no God but Allah, marks the beginning of the obedience of Allah’s commandments and signifies that a believer’s actions must now also be in accordance with his profession. The goal of fundamental beliefs is to submit to God’s will by remaining steadfast and follow the prescribed laws. The Quran says:

Verily those who say, “our Lord is Allah’ and then remain firm (upright) on them shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Sura Ahqa; 46:13)

Al Tahoor Shatr ul Eman

Translation in English: [purity is half of faith.]

Inference:

Purity and cleanliness, both of body and soul are essential components of a Muslim’s personality. The Quran says,

Those will prosper who purify themselves. (Sura Al-Ala; 87:14)

Islam enjoins cleanliness of one’s body, by encouraging Wudu at all times, and also asks the believers to shun evil thoughts, as they will eventually lead to evil acts. A Muslim is also required to keep his surroundings neat and clean.

La yumin o Ahadukum Hatta Yuhibb a Liakheeh I ma Yuhibb u li Nafsihi

Translation in English: [Not one of you believes until he desires for his brother what he desires for himself.]

Inference:

All the Muslims are but a single brotherhood. Each is a source of comfort and benefit for the others, and a brother can never desire evil for his brother. An exemplary manifestation of this was by Muhajireen and the Ansar who gave away an equal half of all their belongings to their brothers in faith.

The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said,

He is not a true believer who eats to his fill, but his neighbor sleeps hungry

Thus true believer will never try to be selfish, and will generously office his best choice to other believers.

Man Kharaj Fi Talbil Ilm Fahuwa Fi Sabilillah Hatta Yarji’

Translation in English: [One who goes out in pursuit of knowledge is on path of God until he returns.]

Inference:

The believers must acquire all forms of knowledge in order to prosper in this world and the Hereafter. Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H)  has likened the seeker of knowledge to the Mujahid (warrior in the path of Allah). The Muslims are instructed to help in all ways possible those who are students. It is only through knowledge that one can truly attain true faith. Countless Quranic verses and Ahadith greatly stress on the need of acquiring knowledge.

That is why even the greatest Muslim scholars prefer to call themselves “Students”.
