First Caliph of Islam Hazrat Abubakar Siddiq RA Biography

The first Caliph of Islam is known as Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A). Abdullah bin Abu Kuhafa Uthman was his real name. Abu Kuhafa Uthman was his father’s name. The name of his mother was Salma bint Sakhar. He was born in Makkah in the year of 573 AD, two years and a few months after the birth of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him). He belongs to the Quraysh tribe.  His Family also joins with Prophet (S.A.W.) from six-generation before himself, in Murrah Ben Kaab. He was also the father-in-law of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).

Abu Bakr spent his childhood in the village like other Arabs children to get pure Arabic language and healthy life. In his childhood usually, he played with camel calves and goats. Therefore people of Arab called him Abu Bakr means “The father of camel’s calf”.

Life of the First Caliph Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A)

Abu Bakr Siddique started involved in the business of trade when he was 18 years old. He started his profession of cloth trading with initially forty thousand dirhams. He did it firstly in his region. After a while, he went to other territories such as Yemen, Syria, and many other countries in the current Middle East. As his occupation grew up, his admiration had been famed. Due to his best qualities, such as honesty, politics, kindness, knowledge about the history of Arab tribes, best skills of the trade, and many others else, he began to be recognized as a chief of his tribe in the presence of his father.

His belief before embracing Islam

Before adopting Islam, Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) was the owner of high ethics, good behaviour, admirable manners, honesty, kindness, truthful. He was a well-known personality among the people of Makkah. He was a leader of morality and high values over the others.

Abu Bakr had never worshipped Idols. He was in the search of true religion. He was a follower of Hazrat Ibrahim’s Religion before adopting Islam.

Abu Bakr Siddique’s (R.A) acceptance of Islam

Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) was the friend of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). When Holy Prophet preached Islam in front of him, he immediately adopted Islam. Because he thought that Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is a truthful, honest, and noble person so how he would be untruthful to Allah?  Abu Bakr was only the first person who embraced Islam. After embracing Islam, he preached to attract other people to Islam. Due to his adopting Islam, many other people came into the auditory of Islam. Soon Uthman bin Affan (R.A.), Abdul-Rahman bin Awf (R.A.), Talhah bin Ubaydillah (R.A.), Saad bin Abi Waqqas (R.A.), Al-Zubair bin Al-Awwam (R.A.), and Abu Ubaydah bin AI-Jarrah (R.A.) all affected to join Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said:

Abu Bakr was the only person who accepted Islam immediately, without suspicion

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) also gave the title of Siddique to Abu Bakr. He made the 1st Caliph of Muslims after the death of the Holy Prophet. He governed the Khilaafat honestly and politely from 632 to 634 CE. Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) died on August 23, 634, in Medina. He is in the rest till today on the right-hand side of the cave of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in Medina.
